In addition to the equipment for the control and monitoring of the plants and periodic instrument calibrations, the MultiphaseLab has the following hardware and software resources:

  • absolute and differential pressure transducers;
  • capacitance sensors for volume-averaged in situ phase fractions measurement (under development);
  • contact thermometer, thermocouples and microthermocouples;
  • digital single lens reflex camera with macro lens;
  • electric heater with PID control;
  • high accuracy metering pump and precision syringes;
  • lights up to 800 W con diffuser;
  • multi-tip impedance local probes (under development);
  • optical and impedance local probes for phase density sampling;
  • pentaprisms for the simultaneous display of objects from multiple directions;
  • quick-closing valves for the measurement of volume-averaged in situ phase fractions;
  • roughness and profile analyser with measuring range from 1 um to 1 mm;
  • software for the analysis of the phase density function, the calculation of the averaged quantities (in situ phase fractions, flow complexity) and the correlation with the governing parameters of two-phase flow;
  • software for digital image processing for the calculation of size, speed and frequency of intermittent two-phase flow structures;
  • software for drop shape analysis and contact angle measurement;
  • software for single- and multiphase thermal CFD;
  • thermohygrometer for recording of environmental conditions;
  • video cameras up to 200 fps.
